The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has revealed what it describes as a sophisticated and coordinated sabotage campaign targeting its leadership and ongoing transformation efforts.

NNPC Ltd, in a statement released on Friday, claimed a syndicate of both identifiable and anonymous individuals, operating internally and externally, is actively disseminating falsehoods to undermine its credibility.

The company’s management stated that this group is deliberately spreading misinformation to derail the organisation’s current drive towards becoming a transparent, performance-focused energy entity.

This transformation, the company highlighted, aligns directly with the mandate of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

NNPC Ltd said the tactics employed by these actors reportedly include the dissemination of ‘scandalous and fabricated reports’, designed to distract the leadership, mislead the public, and erode the morale of its committed workforce and reform-oriented Nigerians.

NNPC Ltd characterised these actions as calculated attempts by those who feel threatened by the ongoing reforms, transparency, and accountability initiatives within the institution.

Anticipating a potential increase in defamatory content, NNPC Ltd declared its unwavering resolve, stating that its transformation efforts are underway and will not be halted by any form of sabotage.

The company urged its staff, stakeholders, and all patriotic Nigerians to remain focused, disregard the ‘noise’, and not be discouraged, affirming its commitment to its mission.
