In a bid to tackle the rising security challenges in the LGA, Andoni Local Government Area Chairman, Mr Lucky Otuo, has declared a dusk-to-dawn curfew.
Otuo declared the indefinite curfew imposition on Thursday, April 23, 2026, noting that it would run daily from 7:00 in the evening to 6:00 in the morning
The LG boss revealed that “this measure is intended to restore calm after the killing of an indigene.”
Otuo described the incident as senseless and deeply disturbing.
He also directed the immediate disbandment of the local vigilante group, OSPAC, declaring its operations in Ikuru Town illegal and unacceptable.
Further, Otuo consoled the bereaved family, assuring residents that those responsible for the crime will be brought to justice.
He urged all residents of Ikuru Town to remain calm, comply with the curfew, and cooperate with security agencies as efforts continue to restore peace in the area.
Tension has continued to rise in Ikuru Town following the reported killing of one Mr Patrick Franklin.
Youths of the community stormed the streets on a protest, demanding justice over what they described as a gruesome and unacceptable act.
The protesters expressed anger and frustration over what they claim is a lack of response from relevant authorities.
According to them, several letters and appeals had previously been sent to local, state, and federal authorities, as well as security agencies, but no concrete action has been taken.
Further, they called on government at all levels, as well as security agencies to urgently intervene in the matter.
