The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has shut two filling stations in Port Harcourt over alleged under-dispensing of fuel during a regulatory inspection.
The affected outlets are MRS filling station in the CFC area and the Stageoil filling station at Craft Centre along Aba Road.
The enforcement action followed a surveillance exercise by the authority to ensure compliance with petroleum product quality and dispensing standards across the metropolis.
The Executive Director, Health, Safety, Environment and Community, Mustapha Lamorde, who represented the Chief Executive of the authority, Rabiu Umar, said the stations would face appropriate sanctions if found guilty of short-changing customers.

He urged motorists to report suspected cases of under-dispensing and other irregularities at filling stations for investigation.
During the exercise, Rainoil on Station Road was queried over alleged under-dispensing and the sale of products suspected to be below the required specifications.
TotalEnergies at Garrison Junction was cautioned over alleged over-dispensing, while the NNPC filling station in Trans-Amadi was commended for meeting the required service standards.
The authority also disclosed that its laboratories in six operational zones had been upgraded to improve petroleum product testing and strengthen regulatory monitoring across the midstream and downstream sectors.
