X user Edward Emmanuel O. (@Eddyballer1) has called on the Rivers State Police Command to investigate videos circulating from the recently concluded Garri Fest in Port Harcourt, which he says show men holding hands and dancing romantically together.
In his post, he cited the Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act 2013, saying it criminalises the “public display of an amorous relationship” and that conduct such as hand-holding, hugging, kissing, or romantic dancing between people of the same sex in public could attract a 10-year prison term. He added that this applies to both men and women.

He urged the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, and the Nigeria Police Force to investigate the event and arrest those involved as soon as possible, claiming there was a “wanton public display” of same-sex relationships at the festival and that crimes were committed with impunity.
The earlier cautions still apply. The post is his opinion and allegation, not a verified report, and there’s no indication police have acted. Check the section numbers against the Act’s text, and avoid identifying or showing the people in the videos.
