Some Super Eagles players are reportedly unhappy with the Nigeria Football Federation over unpaid bonuses, reduced allowances and concerns about the handling of the team’s welfare.
According to a report by Sports Village Square, the players are yet to receive their bonuses for Nigeria’s third-place match against Egypt at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, despite reportedly receiving payments for previous matches.
The players are also said to be dissatisfied with a reduction in their allowances during Nigeria’s recent 2027 AFCON qualifying matches against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau, which they reportedly said was made without prior notice.
Nigeria began the qualifying campaign with a 2-1 victory over Madagascar but suffered a 3-0 defeat to Guinea-Bissau in their second match.
Following the loss, players and head coach Eric Chelle reportedly raised concerns about the condition of the pitch, with the playing surface attracting criticism over its suitability for an international fixture.
Beyond the financial issues, the report cited concerns about the team’s logistics, travel arrangements and general welfare.
The players were also reportedly said to have protested in the dressing room before the match against Guinea-Bissau over concerns surrounding the playing conditions.
However, none of the players has publicly confirmed the reported grievances, and the NFF has not been quoted as responding to the allegations in the report.
The squad members have since returned to their respective clubs following the international break as domestic and European competitions resume.
It remains unclear when the outstanding bonus will be paid or whether the federation will address the reported concerns over allowances, logistics and player welfare.
The situation could place further strain on relations between the players and the NFF if the issues remain unresolved.
