Lazio began their 2026/27 Serie A campaign with a 1-0 victory over Bologna at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara, giving Gennaro Gattuso his first win as head coach.

The visitors started brightly, with Mattia Zaccagni and Matteo Cancellieri going close early on. Boulaye Dia later found the net, but his effort was ruled out for offside as the first half ended goalless.
Bologna created the first major chance after the break, but Christos Mandas denied Jens Odgaard’s close-range header.

Lazio finally broke the deadlock shortly before the hour mark when substitute Davide Frattesi finished from inside the box after a clever backheel from Dia.
Bologna pushed for an equaliser late on, with Mandas saving Federico Bernardeschi’s free-kick onto the post, while Frattesi also cleared Eivind Helland’s effort off the line.
Lazio held on for all three points, while Bologna suffered another disappointing start to a Serie A season.
