Victor Osimhen scored as Galatasaray came from behind to secure a 4-2 victory over Lille in the UEFA Champions League.
The Turkish side made a bright start, with Yunus Akgün opening the scoring in the second minute. Lille responded through Soriba Diaoune, who scored twice in the eighth and 39th minutes to give the French club a 2-1 lead.
Galatasaray restored parity shortly before the interval when Aleksei Batrakov found the net in the 44th minute, converting a pass from Roland Sallai to make it 2-2 at half-time.
The visitors continued their comeback after the restart, taking the lead in the 52nd minute when Lille midfielder Nabil Bentaleb inadvertently turned the ball into his own net.
Osimhen sealed the victory in the 61st minute, scoring Galatasaray’s fourth goal to complete the comeback against his former club.
The goal marked the Nigerian international’s first in the Champions League this season, while his performance earned him the Man of the Match award.
After the match, Osimhen expressed satisfaction with the result, praising his teammates while acknowledging the quality of their opponents.
“I love this stadium. The fans are incredible. We had a tough match. I’m very happy for our team; we won. I also wish Lille good luck in their next matches,” Osimhen said in comments published on Galatasaray’s official website.
He added that Lille had posed a difficult challenge, particularly after taking the lead, but praised Galatasaray for working together to secure the victory.
“Lille players are very tough. They even took the lead. We managed to win the match together as a team. I’m happy we got the three points,” he said.
Galatasaray will next host Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart in the Champions League on Tuesday, November 3, as they continue their European campaign.
