Nollywood actor Laide Olabanji has criticised Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke over his support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, arguing that the decision could conflict with the wishes of residents who supported the governor during difficult times.
Olabanji made the remarks in a video circulating online, speaking in Yoruba as he questioned Adeleke’s political alignment with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The actor recalled the support Adeleke received from Osun residents during his political battles with the APC and accused the governor of failing to reciprocate their loyalty.
“Despite all the problems and battles the APC put you through, Osun people stood by you. Is this how you want to repay them?” Olabanji said.
He also argued that residents were unwilling to endure another four years of hardship, insisting that Adeleke’s decision to support Tinubu could face resistance from voters.
“Osun people are not ready to suffer anymore. They don’t want to suffer another four years,” he said.
Olabanji went on to express his belief that Peter Obi would attract support from voters in Osun State, urging the public to remember his prediction.
“Write down today’s date. Peter Obi will be the choice of Osun people. Note my words, Peter Obi will win in Osun,” he said.
His comments followed Adeleke’s public declaration of support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition at the inauguration of the president’s campaign council on October 14.
Adeleke won the August 15, 2026, Osun governorship election on the platform of the Accord Party, defeating the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Olabanji’s prediction concerns the political preferences of Osun voters ahead of the 2027 presidential election. His remarks represent his personal view and do not establish how the electorate will vote.
