Paris Saint-Germain Féminine have confirmed that Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade will undergo surgery after suffering a fractured fibula while representing Nigeria in the qualifiers for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
The French club announced the development in a medical update ahead of its league encounter against Lyon, stating that one of its specialist surgeons would perform the procedure before Ajibade begins rehabilitation with the club’s medical team.
Ajibade sustained the injury during Nigeria’s second-leg encounter against Comoros in the second round of the African qualifiers for the 2028 Olympic Games. The Super Falcons won the match 5-0 to secure a 7-0 aggregate victory and advance to the next round.
The Nigerian captain was forced off during the first half following a collision with a Comoros player. She received treatment before being stretchered off, with Folashade Ijamilusi introduced as her replacement.
The injury is a setback for Nigeria, who are scheduled to face Morocco in the next round of the Olympic qualifying campaign in 2027 as they pursue a place at the Los Angeles Games.
Ajibade’s recovery will be closely monitored by both PSG and the Nigerian national team. The club has not announced a definitive return date, with her availability expected to depend on the outcome of the procedure and her progress during rehabilitation.
The 27-year-old has been an important figure for the Super Falcons, providing leadership, attacking quality and international experience. Her absence could pose a challenge for Nigeria as preparations begin for the next stage of qualification.
The injury also presents a setback for PSG Féminine as the club manages its domestic commitments. Reports published on Saturday indicated that Ajibade underwent surgery in France on Friday, although the club has not announced a confirmed recovery timeline.
Both club and country will now await further updates as the Super Falcons captain begins her recovery.
