President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday approved a minor reshuffle within the Federal Executive Council, making changes to key positions in his cabinet.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued by Yomi Odunuga, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.
According to the statement, the President relieved Wale Edun of his duties as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.
He also sacked Ahmed Dangiwa as Minister of Housing and Urban Development.
Tinubu subsequently directed that Edun hand over to Taiwo Oyedele, who is now expected to assume responsibility as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.
The Port City News (TCPN) also reported that Oyedele previously served as Minister of State in the ministry.
In the same development, Muttaqha Rabe Darma was nominated and designated as Minister of Housing and Urban Development, while Dangiwa was instructed to hand over to the Minister of State in the ministry.
The Presidency further directed that all handover processes be concluded on or before the close of business on Thursday, 23 April 2026.
Explaining the changes, Akume said the reshuffle was intended to strengthen coordination within government, improve synergy across ministries, and enhance service delivery under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He added that the President acted in line with Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which empower him to appoint and assign ministers.
Akume also conveyed the President’s appreciation to the outgoing ministers for their service to the nation, wishing them success in their future endeavours, while noting that the process of government reinvigoration would remain ongoing.
