The Rivers State Government has dismissed reports of a disagreement between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and members of the State House of Assembly over the 2026 Appropriation Bill.
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Onwuka Nzechi, said in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Wednesday that Fubara was working closely with the lawmakers to advance the interests of Rivers residents.
Nzechi said the 2026 budget proposal, which has already been presented to the House, was undergoing the normal legislative process and would be passed once the process was concluded.

According to him, the state government had endured difficult political periods in the past and would not allow itself to be drawn into fresh controversies.
“The Governor is not at loggerheads with members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, but rather working closely with them to serve the good people of Rivers State,” the statement said.
The government also urged those promoting what it described as negative narratives to desist, stressing that peace and harmony were necessary to sustain development across the state.
It reaffirmed its commitment to working with the legislature to ensure the smooth consideration and passage of the 2026 Appropriation Bill.
