The Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress has put security agencies on notice after a viral video allegedly showed Mr. Samuel Wanosike issuing threats against ADC members and warning against political meetings in Ikwerre Local Government Area.
In a statement by the Rivers State Publicity Secretary of the ADC on Wednesday August 12, 2026 the party described the remarks as reckless and a direct assault on democracy, freedom of association and the constitutional right to peaceful assembly.
“Rivers State is not a jungle,” the ADC declared. “Nobody has a monopoly over the state, and no one is above the law.”
The party insisted it would not be intimidated into silence. It pledged to hold meetings, mobilise supporters and conduct lawful political activities across all 23 local government areas.
According to the statement, ADC in Rivers state called on the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services and other agencies to investigate the alleged threats immediately and act before any violence occurs.
It noted that any attempt to disrupt meetings through violence or thuggery would be documented and pursued through legal channels.
The party while urging its supporters to remain calm and law-abiding, warned that those who sponsor or facilitate such attacks would face individual accountability.
The Statement added that 2027 would not be business as usual because Rivers people, it said, are increasingly conscious of their rights and will not be dictated to by intimidation.
“We want peace. We will work for peace. But the ADC will not be intimidated out of any ward, community or local government area.”
