PSG Humble Real Madrid to Book Final Clash with Chelsea

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) delivered a commanding performance at MetLife Stadium on Wednesday night, dismantling Real Madrid with a 4-0 victory to earn a spot in the FIFA Club World Cup final on Sunday against Chelsea.

The semi-final contest was effectively decided within the opening 24 minutes as the reigning Champions League and Ligue 1 winners overwhelmed their Spanish opponents.

PSG’s rapid scoring began in the sixth minute when Fabian Ruiz tapped in the opener.

The goal followed a significant defensive error from Real’s Raul Asencio, after the referee allowed play to continue despite a foul by Thibaut Courtois on Ousmane Dembele.

Just three minutes later, French winger Dembele capitalised on a mis-kick by Antonio Rudiger, racing clear to calmly slot home PSG’s second goal.

Ruiz then secured his brace and PSG’s third goal with a neat finish after a brilliant one-two exchange between Achraf Hakimi and Dembele.

The La Liga club notably missed the injured Trent Alexander-Arnold and suspended Dean Huijsen.
Goncalo Ramos added a late fourth goal for PSG, sealing a thoroughly dominant display with dedication of his goal to late Liverpool and Portugal international forward, Diogo Jota.

Remarkably, PSG’s all-time leading scorer, Kylian Mbappe, now with Madrid, was on the pitch to witness his former side’s masterclass.

Since Mbappe’s free transfer to Madrid a year ago, PSG appears to have significantly strengthened, now vying for what could be their fourth trophy of 2025 (or fifth, including France’s version of the Community Shield).

Despite a combined 48 goals and assists from Mbappe for Real in the 2024-25 season, his new team concluded the campaign without silverware.

Under the guidance of coach Luis Enrique, PSG’s blend of pace, precise passing, and relentless pressing proved overwhelming.

Their recent form includes a 5-0 thrashing of Inter Milan to claim the Champions League title, and impressive victories in the United States over Atletico Madrid (4-0), Bayern Munich (2-0, despite playing with nine men), and now a resounding 4-0 win against Real Madrid.

The final on Sunday promises a clash between two of Europe’s footballing giants.
