Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has dismissed growing speculation linking him with a return to the Nigeria Premier Football League, making it clear that his next move is likely to take him beyond West Africa.
The 29-year-old is currently a free agent after parting ways with South African side Chippa United in February, following a request to leave the club.
Since then, calls have emerged—particularly from former international Peterside Idah—urging him to consider a temporary return to the NPFL.
However, Nwabali has firmly played down that possibility, pointing instead to his ambition to compete in more structured and financially stable leagues.
“In West Africa, our leagues are not as good. We want to go to Europe, we want to come to South Africa, we want to go to Morocco,” he said.
The shot-stopper emphasized that better organisation, improved pay, and stronger sponsorship structures abroad continue to influence players’ decisions.
“If your league is nice, you’re getting paid, you’re getting sponsors, what are you leaving for?” he added.
Despite his stance, Nwabali is no stranger to the Nigerian top flight, having previously featured for clubs including Go Round, Wikki Tourists, Enyimba, Lobi Stars, and Katsina United.
Recent reports have also linked him with a move to Kaizer Chiefs, but the goalkeeper insisted such claims remain speculative.
“It’s rumours everywhere… When people talk about clubs, it’s not a bad thing—it shows they rate your quality. But it’s still rumours,” he said.
Unfazed by concerns over his clubless status and its potential impact on his Super Eagles place, Nwabali maintained that he is in no hurry to rush into a decision.
“I’m not worried… anywhere that welcomes me well, I can play,” he concluded.
For now, the goalkeeper remains patient—waiting for the right offer, not just any move.
