‘Writing Can Elevate You’: Ezeobi Challenges Igboukwu Youths

The General Manager, Corporate Communications, Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Dr. Obinna Joseph Ezeobi, has admonished the younger generation to acquaint themselves with and avail themselves of opportunities in writing, which, he said, would help them excel in their future endeavours.

Dr. Obinna made the call during the unveiling ceremony of the Igboukwu Undergraduate Essay Writing Competition, sponsored by the Dr. Obinna Ezeobi Foundation, at the grand initiation ceremony of his Nze Nà Ọzọ title as Nze Eze Ịfeakọnaobi Nà Igboukwu Ancient Kingdom, held at his country home in Igboukwu, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.

He said, “Today, I am unveiling the Dr. Obinna Ezeobi Foundation Essay Competition for Igboukwu undergraduate students, and there are prizes to be won.

“The intent is to encourage young ones to study hard and continue to write essays that will form part of their future. If you write well, you will excel. I am a writer, and I have worked on different media platforms. Today, where I work, I am also a writer. Through writing, I have excelled in life. I believe our young people can equally write well and go far in life.

“Writing not only elevates you; it also puts you on the path to leadership. Therefore, I enjoin our people to be part of other endeavours of life, but we also need to go to school and be educated.”

Dr. Obinna Ezeobi further stated, “We have done the cultural part of today’s event, which is my Nze Nà Ọzọ title initiation. The unveiling of the Igboukwu Undergraduates Essay Competition is the intellectual part of today’s occasion. I am a man of two parts: cultural and intellectual.”

“This part of the event is my support for Igboukwu sons and daughters in higher institutions. It is important that we encourage our sons and daughters who are in learning institutions,” Dr. Ezeobi stated.

In an exclusive interview with The Port City News, Teleola Oyeleke, the Assistant Manager, Planning and Internal Policy, Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, commended Dr. Ezeobi for his human development initiatives and expressed delight over the events of the day.

He said, “Today’s events are wonderful, and they are epoch-making events that we have planned for a long time.

“It is a two-in-one event. He took the Ọzọ title, and he also launched the Dr. Obinna Ezeobi Foundation through the commencement of an essay competition for undergraduates in Igboukwu Ancient Kingdom.

“This is a way of giving back to the society that built him. This is encouraging, and we call on others to emulate it by promoting education, growth and development among young people in their communities.”

Teleola further stated, “Dr. Obinna Ezeobi today took the title of Nze in Igboukwu Kingdom. This is a title he has earned over a period of time through his hard work and diligence, having been a cultural and community-oriented person. His community has found him worthy of being conferred with the Ọzọ title in Igboukwu Kingdom.

“It is a welcome event, and it is also worthwhile to note that Dr. Obinna Ezeobi has been a very good community person and an active advocate for growth and development in his native environment and in his professional life.”

Those present at the event included Chief Ifeanyi Ezeịfe; Chief Nathan Egba, a two-time former Commissioner for Information in Bayelsa State; other former commissioners; Honourable members; past Presidents-General of Igboukwu Kingdom; and academics who have excelled through education.
