Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has assured President Bola Tinubu of a large turnout of supporters during his visit to the state on Saturday, expressing confidence that the presidential campaign rally would be a success.
Fubara gave the assurance while receiving a delegation led by Philip Shaibu, former Deputy Governor of Edo State and Director of the Directorate of Support Groups, who visited him during a pre-rally mobilisation road walk in Port Harcourt.
The governor described the exercise as a key part of preparations for Tinubu’s visit, noting that the number of people who turn out would demonstrate the level of support for the President.
He said the restoration of peace in Rivers State had created an enabling environment for political activities and collective engagement. Fubara also disclosed that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, was coordinating the state’s campaign activities.
According to him, the mobilisation was a collective effort that had already started producing positive results, adding that the state would build on the progress made to ensure a successful rally.
Earlier, Shaibu disclosed that the Directorate of Support Groups had conducted similar pre-rally road walks in five states as part of efforts to prepare for Tinubu’s campaign activities.
He explained that the exercise was aimed at mobilising residents, generating excitement and building anticipation ahead of the President’s arrival. He added that the Port Harcourt exercise specifically involved indigenous support groups in Rivers State.
Shaibu said Rivers had enjoyed considerable goodwill from the Tinubu administration, expressing optimism that the various support groups would mobilise enough residents to ensure a successful presidential campaign rally.
