The Rivers State Government has extended the deadline for private schools to submit their 2025/2026 census data through the Digital National Education Management Information System (D-NEMIS) to November 14, 2026.
The Ministry of Education announced the extension following approval by the Federal Ministry of Education, giving private schools that are yet to complete the exercise additional time to do so.
In a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary, Dr Mina Tele Ikuru, on behalf of the Commissioner for Education, Dr Peters Nwagor, school proprietors and heads were urged to use the extension to complete their data uploads.
The Ministry explained that the information gathered through the platform would help improve educational planning, resource distribution and policy decisions, stressing that the exercise was not intended to punish schools.
To assist schools having difficulties with the process, the Ministry has established a data upload support centre at Government Girls’ Secondary School, Rumuokuta, Port Harcourt.
The centre will operate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on November 6 and 7, and from November 9 to 14, 2026.
The Ministry warned that failure to comply before the new deadline could attract sanctions, including the withdrawal of operational licences and disqualification from registering candidates for the Basic Education Certificate Examination and Senior Secondary Certificate Examination.
It therefore called on all affected private schools to complete the exercise within the stipulated period to avoid disruptions to their operations and students’ examination registration.
The statement was signed by Tochi Abinye Pepple, Head of Information and Public Relations, Rivers State Ministry of Education.
