In commemoration of the Nigerian Army Day 2025, the 29 Battalion, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has carried out a medical outreach to the doorstep of the people of Obio/Akpor Local government area as part of activities to mark the Day.
The event, which was held at Community Secondary School Okoro-Nu-Odo, featured free medical services, distribution of wheelchairs and crutches to physically disabled persons and also personal hygiene kits to the students.
The medical outreach embarked on by the 29 Battalion in collaboration with the Nigerian Army Officers’ wives Association, NAOWA was aimed to reflect on the Nigerian Army’s commitment in enhancing civil-military relations and its meaningful contributions to host communities in Rivers State.

The commanding officer 29 Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Otogo, explained that a major part of the celebration was to give community support programmes for the well-being of the people.
In a remark, the chairperson of NAOWA, Mrs. Manfo Ejima-Emekah, said the association is always key into the laudable initiatives to complement the efforts of the Nigerian Army to promote health, education, empowerment and community development.
In his Goodwill message, the GOC 6 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Emmanuel Emekah, represented by the chief of staff, Brigadier General Emmanuel Adamu, commended the Administrator of Obio/Akpor Local government area, Dr. Ndu Walter, for the cooperation and partnership between the Army and the civil authority in the area.
Some of the beneficiaries, Mrs Grace Amah and Mr. Isaac Osazi expressed gratitude to the 29 Battalion for the kind gesture that has brought smiles on their faces.
