Serie A club Inter Milan has announced Cristian Chivu as their new head coach. Chivu, who signed a two-year contract, replaced Simone Inzaghi, who left the club shortly after their Champions League final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to join Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League.
Inter confirmed the Romanian’s appointment on their social media handles, revealing he signed a deal running until June 2027. This followed Chivu’s announcement on Monday of his departure from Parma.
This marks only the second senior managerial role for the former Ajax defender, who spent just three months at Parma.

He helped the club avoid relegation, losing only three of his 13 games in charge (W3, D7). Chivu, who began his coaching career with Inter Milan’s youth teams, recorded a 23.1% win rate and averaged 1.2 points per game during his time there.
The 44-year-old spent seven years with Inter as a player, winning three Serie A titles and the Champions League. His first coaching job began in 2018 with Inter’s youth setup.
His first competitive match as head coach will take place at the Club World Cup, where Inter begin their campaign against Monterrey on 17 June.
