Mpigi, Sikibo emerge PDP senatorial candidates

Member representing Tai/Oyigbo federal constituency, Barry Mpigi, has won the ticket for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Rivers South-East senatorial district election.

Mpigi, who defected from the All Progressive Congress in May, defeated Senator Olaka Worgu to clinch the ticket for the position currently occupied by Senator Magnus Abe.

Meanwhile, Senator Thomson Sekibo has also emerged as the PDP candidate for the Rivers East senatorial district.

Sekibo was removed by the appeal court after the 2016 re-run with Senator Andrew Uchendu of the APC replacing him.

The primary election for the Rivers West senatorial district, was on Tuesday, suspended due to several irregularities that marred the process.
