Former Italy international Marco Borriello has identified Victor Osimhen as a possible option for Juventus as the Serie A club searches for a top-class striker.
The Nigerian forward currently plays for Galatasaray in Turkey but previously established himself as one of Italy’s leading centre-forwards during his spell at Napoli.
Osimhen scored 76 goals in 133 appearances across all competitions for Napoli, helping the club win the 2022–23 Serie A title and end a 33-year wait for the league championship.
Borriello highlighted the striker’s physical strength and familiarity with Italian football, as well as his previous experience working with Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti at Napoli.
“I want a great number nine. Osimhen? Maybe. He’s strong, he knows Serie A and Spalletti. But beyond Osimhen, we need a top-level striker,” Borriello said.
His comments come amid reports that Juventus are looking to strengthen their attacking options as they seek to re-establish themselves among Europe’s leading clubs.
Osimhen has continued to deliver goals for Galatasaray, reportedly recording nine goals and three assists in nine appearances across competitions this season.
However, a potential move to Juventus could be complicated by a reported anti-Italy clause in the agreement between Napoli and Galatasaray when the Nigerian completed his permanent transfer to the Turkish club in 2025.
Reports indicate that the arrangement could require Galatasaray to pay a substantial penalty if Osimhen joins a Serie A club before the summer 2027 transfer window. The precise terms have not been publicly established in full, while Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek has previously said Osimhen’s contract contains no release clause.
Any potential transfer would therefore depend on several factors, including the clubs’ willingness to negotiate, the financial terms involved and the reported restriction on a return to Italian football.
For now, Borriello’s remarks amount to a recommendation rather than confirmation that Juventus have made a formal move for the Super Eagles striker.
