The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has imposed a suspended fine of ₦15 million on Rivers United over the blockage of the live broadcast of their fixture against Rangers International on Sunday.
The league body sanctioned the Port Harcourt-based club following the incident, which disrupted the live transmission of the match.
Rivers United have been warned that any repeat of the offence could trigger the suspended sanction, alongside further disciplinary consequences, including the forfeiture of three points and three goals.
The punishment is intended to deter the club and other NPFL teams from actions that could interfere with the league’s broadcast arrangements.
The NPFL has continued to stress the importance of compliance with its regulations, particularly those governing match-day operations and broadcast rights.
The development comes as the league seeks to strengthen its commercial value and ensure uninterrupted live coverage of its fixtures.
