The Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP) has urged healthcare providers under its scheme to maintain high standards of service delivery and ensure that all enrollees receive quality care irrespective of their social or economic status.
The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of RIVCHPP, Dr. Vetty Agala, gave the charge on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, during the onboarding of two additional private health facilities into the state’s social health insurance programme.
Agala, who was represented at the event by the agency’s Head of Standards and Quality Assurance, Pharm. Bona Vopnu, said all enrollees deserved equal standards of healthcare.
She explained that quality healthcare, as defined by the agency, must be safe, effective, timely, efficient, patient-centred and equitable.
The RIVCHPP chief executive also warned healthcare providers against extortion and other practices that could expose enrollees to unnecessary costs, urging them to protect patients from financial exploitation.

She further charged the newly onboarded facilities to maintain adequate and competent personnel to deliver the services they offer, stressing that proper documentation was an essential component of quality healthcare delivery.
Agala reiterated that RIVCHPP had fully digitalised its operations and maintained a functional 24-hour call centre to address concerns raised by both enrollees and healthcare providers.
She urged the facilities to integrate the programme’s digital processes into their operations to ensure effective service delivery and seamless access to healthcare for enrollees.
The two facilities onboarded were Zolive Branch Hospital, Eneka, and Fundamental Care Specialists Hospital Limited, Atali, Port Harcourt.
Speaking on behalf of the facilities, their Medical Directors, Dr. Onwueyi Ebuchelem and Dr. Moses Atakere, expressed appreciation to RIVCHPP for the training and onboarding exercise.
They pledged their commitment to supporting the success of the programme and providing quality healthcare services to residents of Rivers State.
The medical directors also commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara for making the programme operational in the state and thanked Agala and her team for accepting their facilities as service providers under the scheme.
The exercise featured training for staff of the newly onboarded facilities on RIVCHPP’s digital operations.
