Women’s Group Rallies Support for Bola Tinubu Ahead of 2027

Renewed Hope Women of Faith in Politics has stepped up its mobilisation efforts in support of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as political activity gathers momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The event, held in Port Harcourt, brought together women from different religious and political backgrounds, reflecting a strong emphasis on unity, national development, and grassroots participation.

Supported by Rivers Women Unite for SIM, the initiative was described as a deliberate effort to unite women across the country into a cohesive network focused on prayer, advocacy, and active civic engagement.

Addressing participants, the convener, Amaopuorubo Sotonye Toby, explained that the platform is designed to serve as a nationwide movement of women committed to praying for Nigeria’s peace, stability, and effective governance. She noted that prayer remains a powerful tool for national transformation, especially during challenging periods.

She also stressed that women play a vital role in nation-building, particularly in a diverse country like Nigeria, where they contribute across sectors such as education, business, entrepreneurship, and politics, while also managing family responsibilities.

According to her, unity among women across religious and political lines is essential for building a more inclusive and stronger nation. She added that the movement represents a renewed dedication to shared goals and national progress.

Toby further highlighted that the initiative goes beyond spiritual activities and focuses on action through responsible civic participation at the grassroots level. She said the platform aims to mobilise women, empower them with purpose, and amplify their voices as agents of peace and development.

Reiterating the group’s political position, she expressed support for President Tinubu’s reelection, aligning the movement with the principles of the All Progressives Congress and its Renewed Hope agenda.

She emphasised that continuity in leadership is important for stability, growth, and national development, noting that women are firmly committed to supporting the President as the country approaches the next election cycle.

Toby also pointed to the impact of collective action by women, stating that history has shown that when women unite with a common purpose, communities are strengthened, societies improve, and hope is renewed.

She commended participants for their dedication and encouraged them to remain strong pillars of faith, courage, and hope despite national challenges. She urged women at all levels, from local communities to the national stage, to actively participate in shaping Nigeria’s future.

The convener also praised the leadership of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara alongside President Tinubu, acknowledging their commitment to governance and development.

The event ended with a call for continued unity among women of all faiths and sustained prayers for Nigeria’s peace, progress, and stability.

Observers note that the rise of faith-based political groups like Renewed Hope Women of Faith in Politics signals a growing trend in grassroots mobilisation, with women increasingly taking on influential roles in Nigeria’s political and developmental space.
