The Chairman of Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, in Rivers State,Voke Emore has assured members of National Youth Service Corps,NYSC that the state under the leadership of Commissioner of Police,CP Olugbenga Adepoju is safe.
Mr Emore made this known while delivering security lecture to members of NYSC Batch A Steam 1,2026 at the orientation camp in Nonwa,Tai Local Government Area of Rivers State.
“I want to assure you that Rivers State is safe under the leadership of CP Adepoju as Commissioner of Police.
“Our primary responsibility as PCRC is to build bridge between the community and the Police.We are present in over thirty six Divisions.We also have nine active area commands.
“As a corps members, you can be part of PCRC.When you are out of camp,locate any Police Division around your area of primary assignment, ask for the PCRC Chairman.We are there to support you security wise and when you need help.
“When you are posted to any Community,meet the DPO of the Police Division tell him you want to connect to the PCRC Chairman of the Division.When you have accommodation problems,issues relating to your host community,as long as you are a PCRC Member the issues will be attended to.
“Rivers State is safe but security is everyone’s business.You have to be careful and in the community you don’t just go out anyhow.Learn about their tradition,their culture in case they have festivals that you are not supposed to go out at night.You must be careful.
“If you have anything that has to do with security challenges in your area of primary assignment,meet the DPO directly.As corps member you have the right to demand to see the DPO of any station.
“Ensure that your friends know your whereabout.If you have a connection among yourself and among your colleagues where you work, people can check on you time to time.
“PCRC is here to guide, support you. You can also reach out to us too on Facebook, Instagram and we will respond to you.
“If you have a situation where a Police officer is also trying to intimidate you,alsot reach out to us” Mr Emore said.
The Commandant, Police Training School Nonwai-Tai, Assistant Commissioner of Police,ACP Okere Daniel,Deputy Superintendent of Police,DSP(rtd) Moses Nnyam, Mrs Darlene Tasie, State women leader of PCRC, other members were also in attendance.
