The Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Information and Communications, Dr. Honour Sirawoo, has urged members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ministry of Information Chapel, to embrace responsible leadership, respect institutional structures and contribute to the ministry’s development.
Sirawoo gave the charge when members of the chapel’s executive committee paid him a courtesy visit at the ministry’s headquarters in Rivers State.
He stressed that leadership comes with responsibility, urging members to use their positions to add value to their respective departments and the institutions they serve.
“Power comes from God, and when He gives you, He gives you for a purpose to see how you can add value to that department that you find yourself in,” he said.
The Permanent Secretary also emphasised the importance of respecting workplace hierarchy and established administrative procedures, noting that effective governance depends on clearly defined roles and responsibilities.
“Every society is structured… You must structurally arrange yourself according to offices,” he said, urging members to ensure their conduct aligns with institutional rules and guidelines.
Sirawoo further encouraged the chapel to embrace positive change, learn from past mistakes and adopt improved approaches to service delivery.

Nwaeke requested continued administrative support, guidance, and an open channel of communication, noting that sustained engagement would help the chapel discharge its responsibilities effectively.
“We humbly request your ongoing support, open-door policy, and administrative guidance,” he said.
He reaffirmed the chapel’s commitment to aligning its programmes and activities with the ministry’s broader objectives, stressing the importance of cooperation between union members and management.
In his vote of thanks, the chapel’s Assistant Secretary, Ledesi Emkpa, assured the Permanent Secretary of the members’ readiness to work collaboratively with the ministry’s leadership.
“We are ready and willing to work as a team,” he said.
The visit underscored the chapel’s commitment to constructive engagement, institutional discipline, and cooperation with the ministry’s management to advance shared objectives.
