The Bayelsa State Government has called on development agencies, private sector players, and community leaders to partner with the Ministry of Health in implementing its 2026 health sector budget aimed at improving healthcare delivery and strengthening emergency response systems across the state.
The call was made by the State Health Commissioner, Professor Seiyefa Brisibe, during the presentation of the health budget proposal to the House Committee on Health at the State House of Assembly in Yenagoa. He commended the Committee, led by Hon. Dr. Godbless Oyinke, for its commitment to advancing healthcare development in the state.

Professor Brisibe assured stakeholders that the budget is designed to advance universal health coverage, upgrade health infrastructure, and enhance access to maternal and child health services. Key priorities outlined include the provision of modern medical equipment, recruitment and training of healthcare professionals, and the expansion of emergency medical and ambulance services.
Prof. Brisibe said beyond being a financial document, this budget is a roadmap towards a healthier population, stronger institutions, and sustainable development, stressing the importance of transparency, accountability, and effective resource allocation.
He further emphasised that collaboration with development partners and private sector actors is crucial to ensure the effective implementation of the proposed programmes and projects.
The budget presentation was attended by all Directors of the Ministry of Health, the Provost of the State-owned College of Health Sciences, Prof. Timipa Ogoin, the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Jones Stow. the Director of Finance. Others includes, the BHIS Executive Secretary, Dr. Johnbull Agedah, and the Secretary of the Primary Health Care Board, Chief Dr. Williams Appah, among other top government functionaries.
