The Project Coordinator of HYPREP, Prof. Nenibarini Zabbey, met yesterday in Abuja with the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Dr Adebowale A. Adedokun, and with Muhammad Kambari, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Aviation.
At the BPP, Zabbey briefed the Director-General on progress on the Ogoni Cleanup. The projects covered included the Centre of Excellence for Environmental Restoration, the 100-bed Ogoni Specialist Hospital, potable water projects, the Cottage Hospital, soil and groundwater remediation, shoreline cleanup, mangrove restoration, strengthening of existing medical facilities across Ogoniland’s four local government areas, peace-building efforts, and sustainable livelihood programmes. The DG commended the HYPREP team for its implementation of the cleanup.

In an earlier meeting with Kambari, Zabbey updated him on the cleanup’s progress, particularly HYPREP’s recently concluded Cabin Crew Training and the issuance of licences to some Ogoni trainees. He asked the Ministry to support efforts to secure jobs for the Ogoni-licensed cabin crew.

The statement describes such engagements as strategic initiatives aimed at exploring partnerships and collaborations to deliver key project outcomes and the benefits of the Ogoni Cleanup Programme to the Ogoni people.
