The Safer Highway Unit of the Nigeria Police Force has arrested two suspects, including an alleged serving personnel of the Nigerian Navy, after intercepting a Toyota Tacoma Hilux loaded with 248 moulds of suspected cannabis along the East-West Road.
The suspects were reportedly arrested after police operatives stopped the vehicle during an operation along the highway.
According to the police, the vehicle was allegedly fitted with a siren, which was reportedly used to intimidate security checkpoints and facilitate the movement of the suspected illicit substance.

The suspected cannabis, identified as “Scottish Loud,” was allegedly being transported from Lagos to Port Harcourt for distribution.
The two suspects, including the alleged Navy personnel and the driver of the vehicle, were arrested in connection with the consignment.
The suspects and the recovered exhibits have since been handed over to the Commander of the VCRU for discreet investigation.
The investigation is expected to establish the identities and roles of the suspects, as well as the source and intended destination of the suspected cannabis.
The suspects remain presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a court of law.
