The Rivers State Police Command has arraigned two of four police officers dismissed over the alleged killing of a 22-year-old man, Anthony Obodo, who was shot dead around Ada George Junction in Port Harcourt on August 27, 2026.
The officers arraigned before a Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt are Corporal Alfred Louis and Police Constable Michael Ejokwu.
The two officers were brought to court on a remand warrant, while Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Fabian Kreamabari and Inspector Solomon Nwrogu, who were also dismissed in connection with the incident, were not arraigned. Nwrogu is reportedly still at large.

When the matter came up, the trial Chief Magistrate, Helen Hardy, did not allow the charge to be read and no plea was taken.
Instead, the court ordered that the two defendants be remanded at the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre.
Chief Magistrate Hardy further directed that the case file be referred to the Chief Registrar for reassignment and adjourned the matter until September 22, 2026, for plea and possible trial.
Speaking to journalists outside the courtroom, Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Port Harcourt Branch, Chinedu Maduba, expressed displeasure over the arraignment of only two of the four police officers dismissed in connection with Obodo’s death.
Maduba questioned why all four officers reportedly dismissed over the incident were not brought before the court to face the allegations.
The development has heightened calls for transparency and accountability in the investigation and prosecution of the circumstances surrounding the death of the 22-year-old.
