The Rivers State Government has announced a cumulative cash reward of ₦20 million for ten indigenes of the state who recently received the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Presidential Honours Award.
The reward was made public on Wednesday, by the Secretary to the State Government, Dagogo Wokoma, who represented the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, during an official reception in Port Harcourt.
Fubara congratulated the ten recipients, describing them as exceptional ambassadors whose stellar performance and exemplary community service during their national youth service brought significant pride and honor to Rivers State.
He noted that the financial gesture aligns with his administration’s ongoing focus on human capital development and the consistent promotion of excellence across various sectors of the economy.
Speaking, the state Coordinator of the NYSC, Moses Oleghe, thanked the state government for its generosity.
He emphasised that the scheme will maintain its collaborative partnerships with state authorities to ensure that young graduates continue to acquire values that allow them to make meaningful contributions to nationwide development.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Gideon Nwaokugha expressed gratitude to the governor for the recognition and support, pledging that the awardees would continue to model excellence in their respective professional fields.
According to an official directive from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, the ten honored beneficiaries include: Nwile Promise, Nwakoo Bariagara, Chika Michelle, Samyaaloh Lekia and Chuku Diana.
Others are, Okulu Sarah, Nwaubochi Godswill, Wori Precious, Paola Bob-Yellowe and Gideon Nwaokugha
