Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has affirmed his administration’s commitment to completing two critical road projects, the Emohua–Ogbakiri–Egbelu Road and the Tema-Buguma–Degema–Abonnema Road, by the end of the year.
The governor made the commitment following an inspection of the two projects on Tuesday after inspecting the fire incident at the State Civil Service Secretariat on Monday.
He described two projects as vital for facilitating ease of movement and connecting communities within the state.
“We also inspected two important projects that are sure to facilitate ease of movement and connect the people,” Fubara stated, identifying the two routes as crucial to the state’s infrastructure development. He confirmed that the contractor responsible for the projects has been remobilised to the sites.
“With the contractor now remobilised to the site, God willing, the projects will be completed by the end of the year,” the Governor added, setting a clear completion timeline.
Fubara also praised the residents of the host communities for their support, noting their understanding of the roads’ significance.

“Commendably, the host communities are cooperating with the contractor because they do understand the importance of the two vital routes,” he added.
The Port City News earlier reported that the governor, during assessment of the damages done by the inferno which affected the Creche section at the Podium block of the secretariat, applauded the State Fire Service for their prompt response in quelling the fire.
Fubara pledged to commence rehabilitation of the secretariat complex to ensure the safety of civil servants.
