Paul Adefarasin, Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, has refuted claims that he was brandishing a firearm in a viral social media video. The clip, which surfaced earlier this week, shows Adefarasin holding a metallic object while interacting with a passerby recording him, sparking speculation that the object was a gun.
In a statement posted on his social media accounts on Saturday, Adefarasin clarified that the object was not a firearm and denied pointing it at anyone. “You might be aware of a video circulating on social media showing me in what some have misunderstood as brandishing a firearm.
I want to assure you — that was certainly not a firearm, and at no point did I point such at anyone,” he said. Addressing his congregation during the 9:00 a.m. service on Sunday, Adefarasin expressed dismay over the false accusations, stating he has never held a firearm license nor carried a gun.

He described the incident as a misrepresentation by an “aggressive content creator” who approached him closely, accusing detractors of using the video for clickbait and financial gain. “The enticement of the enemy is always the love of money as the root of all evil,” he said, referencing the motives behind the viral clip.
Adefarasin urged the public to remain calm and resist misinformation, emphasizing his ministry’s stance against engaging with hate speech or false accusations. Quoting Romans 12:19, he added, “‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.’” He also assured members that the issue would be addressed briefly during the Sunday service to clarify the “mischief” caused by the video.
The pastor thanked his congregation for their patience and understanding, reaffirming his commitment to transparency amid the controversy.
