The Executive Secretary of the Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP), Dr. Vetty Agala, has stressed the importance of a sustainable and resilient supply chain to the effective delivery of quality healthcare services to residents of the state.
Agala made the remarks on Monday, September 7, 2026, during a meeting with representatives of the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) at the RIVCHPP office in Port Harcourt.
She noted that an efficient and well-coordinated supply chain was essential to ensuring the continuous availability of medicines, medical supplies, equipment, services and other critical resources required to support healthcare delivery across RIVCHPP’s network of accredited facilities.
According to her, strengthening the supply chain would contribute significantly to improving access to quality healthcare for enrollees and ensuring the sustainability of the programme.

Agala also said RIVCHPP remained open to strategic partnerships with the private sector and other relevant organisations to improve healthcare services for its enrollees.
Speaking during the meeting, CHAI Project Manager, Peace Oruma, said the engagement focused on identifying opportunities to strengthen access to medicines for RIVCHPP enrollees.
She added that the meeting also explored ways of improving the sustainability and effectiveness of the programme’s pharmaceutical supply management system.
CHAI is a global health organisation that works with governments, businesses and other stakeholders to expand access to affordable and quality healthcare.
The organisation has been partnering with RIVCHPP to support efforts to ensure that residents of Rivers State can access affordable healthcare services without suffering financial hardship.
