Heirs Energies has completed maintenance work on its gas facilities in Agbada, near Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and resumed gas supply to the 188-megawatt Geometric Power Plant in Aba, Abia State.
The development is expected to improve electricity supply across the Aba Ring-fenced area, which has experienced power shortages in recent weeks due to interruptions in gas supply.
Managing Director of Geometric Power Ltd, Dr Nonso Okolo, confirmed that Heirs Energies had restarted gas deliveries to the plant.
He said the recent disruption had affected businesses and other economic activities in Aba, describing the return of gas supply as a welcome development.

Okolo added that Aba Power was working to fix local faults on some feeders, with the aim of restoring reliable electricity to communities across the nine local government areas covered by the company.
Power consultant Dike Ejike attributed the improvement to two major developments at Heirs Energies’ facilities. He said the company replaced a critical gas pressure component and completed the turnaround maintenance at its Associated Gas Gathering facility in Agbada.
Chemical engineer Chike Madueke said ageing gas pipelines across the eastern region had contributed to recurring supply problems, noting that many of the pipelines were built decades ago.
He also said years of limited investment had worsened the condition of some gas infrastructure serving Aba.
Ejike and Madueke commended Heirs Energies for investing in the rehabilitation of its gas infrastructure, saying the company’s efforts could strengthen gas supply and support more reliable electricity generation in the region.
