The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, has advised police officers to plan for retirement, emphasizing the importance of self-preparedness and financial security beyond government service.
Speaking at the 20th Anniversary Celebration of Cadet ASP Course 22, held at the Police Officers’ Mess, Old GRA, Port Harcourt, on Saturday, February 1, 2025, CP Adepoju compared policing to a race, where individuals must take charge of their own pension and well-being.
He stressed that government work alone does not guarantee financial stability and urged officers not to rely solely on colleagues or miracles for support after retirement.
The Commissioner encouraged officers to set clear goals, plan strategically, and pray for a meaningful life beyond active service.
Representing the Cadet ASP Course 22, ACP Israel Ukpong expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to fulfill their dreams.
