A suspected transformer vandal was electrocuted in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State, as police probe the incident.
The unfortunate incident occurred on Saturday, as the man, whose identity has not been unveiled, allegedly attempted to vandalize the transformer when the electricity was switched on.
Igwe Godswill, Civilian Joint Task Force Commander in Okrika, disclosed this on Tuesday, when he said the task force members unearthed the body during routine patrol in the community.
Mr Godswill stated that the task force members found some saw blades, a torch and other items at the scene of the crime, which were used by the deceased to carry out the act.

“When we got there, we found saw blades, a torch and other items. Obviously, he went there to steal from the transformer, and when the current was switched on in the middle of the night, he was electrocuted,” he said.
He further stated that they had informed Okrika Police Division of the development to investigate the incident.
The officer in charge lamented the increasing cases of vandalism of the electricity infrastructure in the communities and urged the people to desist from the persistent crime.
Mr Godswill also urged the youths and residents to shun away from the vices and live a productive life.
In addition, he asked the people to stay alert and give intelligence to the security agencies to help tackle the menace.
Suspected vandals usually come from other communities to perform the destructive activities, the task force commander noted.
