The claims by the Rivers State government that the manager of Prodest Hotel in Eleme local government, Dr. Bariledum Job Azoro has tested positive for covid-19 is still eliciting reactions in the state.

Residents have expressed shock at the claims made by the commissioner for information, Paulinus Nsirim that Azoro tested positive alongside 26 others.

The Chairman of the Rivers State Civil Society Organization, Comrade Enefa Georgewill said the claim by the state government has raised many questions begging for answers.

Enefa Georgewill said the state government should clarify to the people when the hotel manager contacted the virus.

He also said the revelation by the state government of the covid-19 status of the hotel manager is a deviation from its earlier protocol of non-disclosure of covid-19 patients to the public.

“Why RIVSCO wouldn’t want to delve into unverified allegation, we will be demanding the verifications of when the government started making the names of the covid-19 patients public.

” Where did he contact the covid-19 virus? Is it in the cell where he was detained for eight days before conviction or at the isolation center where he is currently kept as ordered by the court or at the hotel before he was arrested, or during his arrest by the police or taskforce?

“How are we sure that the blood sample taken for test belongs to Dr. Azoro, the manager of Proudest Hotel?

” Does the Rivers State government test all those who were arrested by violating the governors order?”

Enefa Georgewill , therefore called on NCDC to weigh into the issue.

“In the face of the doubt generated, by this issue, RIVSCO as the foremost coalition in the state is calling on the National leadership of NCDC to evacuate Dr. Azoro from the Rivers State Isolation center at Elekahia and conduct another independent test to clear all doubts”
