The Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP) has urged healthcare providers to deliver quality services to all enrollees without discrimination or unnecessary charges.
The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of RIVCHPP, Dr Vetty Agala, gave the directive during the onboarding of two additional private health facilities in the state.
Represented by the agency’s Head of Standards and Quality Assurance, Pharm. Bona Vopnu, Agala said every enrollee deserved equal access to safe, effective, timely and patient-centred healthcare, regardless of status.
She warned service providers against extortion and unnecessary charges, stressing that facilities must protect enrollees from avoidable financial burdens.
Agala also charged the management of the hospitals to maintain adequate and competent personnel, ensure proper documentation and meet the required standards of healthcare delivery.

She noted that RIVCHPP operates a fully digitalised system with a functional 24-hour call centre to address complaints and enquiries from enrollees and service providers. She urged the newly onboarded facilities to integrate their operations with the agency’s digital platform.
The two facilities added to the programme are Zolive Branch Hospital, Eneka, and Fundamental Care Specialists Hospital Limited, Atali, Port Harcourt.
Their Medical Directors, Dr Onwueyi Ebuchelem and Dr Moses E. Atakere, respectively, expressed appreciation to RIVCHPP for the training and onboarding, pledging their commitment to delivering quality healthcare and supporting the programme.
They also commended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, for making the health insurance programme operational in the state and thanked Agala and her team for the partnership.
The onboarding exercise included training for facility staff on RIVCHPP’s digital operations.
