Gun Attack at Elele: One Suspect Arrested, Firearm Recovered

A violent gun attack at Elele Roundabout in Rivers State has left four people injured, with one suspect arrested and a firearm recovered, the state police command confirmed.

The incident occurred around 7 a.m. when officers from the Elele Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), responded to intelligence reports about a gathering of suspected hoodlums in the area.

According to the police, an unidentified gunman opened fire as officers attempted to disperse the crowd, injuring four individuals.

The assailants fled the scene, but one suspect was apprehended with a single-barrel gun in his possession. The injured victims were rushed to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

A police manhunt is now underway for the fleeing suspects, some of whom have been identified as members of the local vigilante group, OSPAC.

The arrested suspect has been taken into custody and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, has assured the public that all those responsible will be brought to justice. He urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement by providing any useful information.

The police command reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and security in the state, promising to provide further updates as investigations continue.
