FAECARE Foundation’s Valentine’s Day Walk Advocates for Disability Rights in Rivers State

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, the Rivers State Government has been called upon to improve access to public places and to initiate laws that will support and improve the rights of people with disabilities.

Speaking during a walk organized by a non-governmental organization, FAECARE Foundation, as part of their Disability Right Initiative Project, DRIP, to commemorate the Day in Port Harcourt, some participants including, Mrs. Carol Akpoguma and Mr. Udeme Mathias, noted that some public buildings cannot be access by persons living with disabilities.

They stressed the need for more inclusive environments that would allow everyone to participate fully in the society.

Director of FAECARE Foundation, Dr. Ndifreke Andrew-Essien, while highlighting the purpose of the accessibility walk, stated that the initiative is aimed at promoting awareness and advocating for the rights of people with disabilities, to ensure that they have equal opportunities to engage in all aspects of life.

The event was not only a demonstration of solidarity but also a call to action by policymakers to prioritize accessibility and inclusiveness.
