Rivers people cannot be intimidated by calls for violence- PDP says

Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State has said that Rivers people are warriors who cannot be intimidated by APC’s calls for violence.

A former State Publicity Secretary of the party, Samuel Wanosike, said this during the ongoing party flags handover to ward councillorship aspirants for the June 16th local government election in Omagwa, Ikwerre Local Government Area.

Nwanosike who condemned the manner with which the Rivers State chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ojukaye Flag-Amachree, via media, bragged to be evil and swore to remove Governor Wike from brick house come 2019, said that the people of Rivers State are out to defend democracy and support Governor Wike.

He said that Wike has earned the people’s support because he has demonstrated good leadership, adding that the people of Rivers State will give their support to whomsoever governor Wike supports.

Hon. Nwanosike added that, the Minister of Transportation, RT. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, has been banished politically from Ikwerre land by the people of Ikwerre.

In his remarks, former governor of Rivers State and PDP leader in Ikwerre local government area, Sir Celestine Omehia, said that all of the councillorship candidates from different wards of Ikwerre local government area and the chairmanship candidate Hon. Engr. Samuel Nwanosike is the people’s best choices, stressing that the Ikwerre people have no regrets for choosing them to represent their interests at the local government level.

He also used the medium to urge the people of Ikwerre not to relent but work hard in ensuring that they give the candidates 90% votes in the June 16th local government election as well as the general election in 2019.

Meanwhile, Bro. Felix Obuah, the State chairman of the PDP, who represented the state governor, Governor E.N Wike, commended the leadership of PDP in Ikwerre local government and the good people of Ikwerre LGA for the mammoth turnout who witnessed the hand-over of flags in their LGA.

He also commended the candidates who emerged as councilors from the thirteen wards, saying: ” you are not the best, but amongst thousands who are the best. Your people have selected you as their candidates to be elected as councilors to represent them, serve them well.

He urged them to serve without fear or favour, adding that it’s only God that gives power. Obuah also said that Governor Wike as a democrat has availed the platform to the people to choose and elect their chosen candidates to represent them.
