Popular Afrobeat musician, Davido, has shared his thoughts on the marital troubles of his logistics manager, Israel Afeare, also known as Israel DMW, suggesting that Israel’s estranged wife, Sheila Courage, may be regretting her decision to end their marriage.
Israel DMW and Sheila tied the knot in a traditional ceremony on October 20, 2022, in Benin City. However, their marriage fell apart just eight months later amid accusations of domestic violence and infidelity from both sides.
In a video posted on Instagram, Davido was seen speaking to Israel while aboard a private jet. The singer expressed his belief that Sheila might be feeling remorseful about the separation. Davido was heard saying, “I know she feeling bad men, you’re on top my nigga. We taking jets, we balling billions of dollars. Her loss!”

This remark sparked controversy online, with many, including Nigerian music producer Samklef, condemning Davido’s comments. Samklef criticized Davido for mocking Sheila and questioned the singer’s empathy and moral compass.
Samklef took to his official X (formerly Twitter) account to express his disapproval, saying that other prominent musicians like Wizkid and Burna Boy would never insult someone’s ex-wife in such a manner. He wrote, “Dear Davido, you have shown a lack of morals by calling Israel’s ex-wife a ‘bitch.’ How would you feel if someone called your wife, Chioma, the same?”
He further emphasized that it was not the first time for Israel, as Israel had flown in private jets before. “Happiness does not come from flying in a private jet. You need mentorship and counseling,” Samklef added.
Despite the backlash, Davido seemed unfazed by the criticism. In a response on his official X handle, he appeared to mock his critics, suggesting they would continue to follow his life regardless of their disapproval. He wrote, “If dem like make dem hate us, dem go still view our status.”
