The Ijaw Youths Council has suspended its president, Peter Timothy Igbifa, after passing a vote of no confidence on him.
He is accused among other things, of stage-managing his abduction on Tuesday.
Recall that Igbifa was allegedly abducted along the Port Harcourt International Airport road on Tuesday on his way to Abuja.
Comr. Tamuno Kpokpo, the Chairman, IYC, Eastern Zone and Comr. Daminabo Prince Eugene, Secretary, IYC, Eastern Zone in a statement said Igbifa’s actions are in contravention of the norms, convention and constitution of the IYC.

A VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE AND SUSPENSION ON DCN. PETER TIMOTHY IGBIFA, PRESIDENT OF (IYC) WORLDWIDE, FOLLOWING THE SAGA’S OF HIS PURPORTED KIDNAP, DUBIOUS ACTIVITIES, MALIGNING, MISINFORMATION AND AN EMBARRASSMENT TO EASTERN ZONE AND IJAW NATION AT LARGE AS THE CROWN PRINCE.

Arising from IYC Eastern Zonal emergency Congress today Friday 28th of May 2021, a vote of no confidence was passed on him, following his misconduct in Ijaw Youth Council, which are in contravention of the norms, convention and Constitution of IYC, the Congress came up with the followings:
- Usurping the functions of the Zones and Chapters contrary to Mutada Mutadis principle of the IYC.

Causing disaffection and division in Council due to high handedness and executive rascality.

instigating Eastern Zone clan chairmen against members of IYC from Central, Western Zones and Chapters from accessing Eastern Zone for its activities as contained in the constitution of IYC.

Sponsoring division in Council as evident in the following areas:
(A) Abuja election crisis.
(B) Central zone clan election crisis.
(C) Western zone election crisis.
(D) Eastern Zone election crisis
(E) Maligning, misleading and misinforming the ijaw nation and the general public about his stage managed adoption, which to the best of his and our knowledge its not a possibility for such to happen to the president of highly respected youth body the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide.
(F) Using IYC as his personal business to receive funds for himself, family and supporters, which is against the norms and ethics of IYC constitution.
Ijaw Youth Council is the architect of the peace every persons in Niger Delta are enjoying today, on that note there is no way the IYC President can be kidnapped in his region.
It is in light of the foregoing that a Congress was convoked and a vote of no confidence and suspension was passed on him, DCN Peter Timothy Igbifa, the President of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide.
An investigative Committee has been set up to critically evaluate and investigate the activities of the President of IYC Worldwide, Dcn. Peter Timothy Igbifa.
The chairman of the zone Hon. Tammy kpokpo, has advised all Ijaw Youth Council members to hold on with the peaceful protest till further notice.
From the resolution of the Eastern Zonal Congress today dated 28th of May 2021, a motion was moved by Tuotamuno Med Ogolo, that DCN Peter Timothy Igbifa, be suspended for his dubious and stage-managed adoption by unknown gun men and the motion was seconded by Ibinabo Omoni Jack, the Kalabari Clan Chairman.
At the end of the congress today, another motion was also moved by Comrade Belief Esuku, Robert Amah, seconded the motion that an investigative Committee be set up by the Zonal Chairman Comrade Tamuno Kpokpo, through the congress to investigate the President of the council to know if actually he was kidnapped by unknown gun men even as he remained suspended, pending on the determination of the investigation.
Following the motion, an investigative Committee was set up from the original ancestral seven clans across the zone, which was done through nomination from the various clans, before the Congress and the members were inaugurated by the Zonal chairman, Comr. Kpokpo, and was adopted as a working document by the Congress.

Comr. Dumo Clement, member
Comr. Philip Syvester member
While we await the Bille clan, Bonny Clan and Okirika clan to send in their nominees.
We stand to say that in as much as DCN Peter Timothy Igbifa, who remian suspended by the zone, any person dealing with him is at his/her perils as the council will not be held responsible for anything committed by him. Based on that Comrade Israel Fubara, the Mobilisation Officer/Strategic Planning, was declared the Acting President of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, by the Congress pending on the resolution of the investigative Committee.
Finally a resolution was reached by the entire zone, at the Congress to support the Niger Delta Ministry ably led by Sen. Godswill Akpabio, to continue the forensic audit haven delayed due to the corona virus Covid19 pandemic.
