A cardiologist from Rivers State, Dr Emmanuel Ovundah Nyeche, has been chosen as one of two Nigerians for the 2026 World Heart Federation Salim Yusuf Emerging Leaders Programme in Cardiovascular Science.
Nyeche works as a Consultant Cardiologist at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH). He was also the Assistant General Secretary of the Nigerian Medical Association NMA. He is part of a group of young people picked for this international programme about cardiovascular leadership.
This choice is a step in Nyeche’s career. It shows he can help drive progress in science, healthcare, and leadership.

During the programme, Nyeche will meet medical workers from different countries. They will share knowledge. Learn about ways to improve cardiovascular health around the world.

Nyeche’s involvement will let him speak for Rivers State and Nigeria in talks about heart medicine and healthcare progress.
His selection is also expected to show how Nigerian doctors help in health projects. It will also make Rivers State more known in heart health programmes.
