Asari Dokubo’s group repels Unknown Gunmen attack on police checkpoint in Rivers

The Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, NDPVF, has reportedly repelled an attack by unknown gunmen at Isiodu Community, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.

This was disclosed by a former Niger Delta warlord, Mujahid Asari Dokubo,, who is also the leader of the NDPVF.

Dokubo said a woman who hawked at the checkpoint had alerted the group’s commander in Emohua about suspicious movements in the bush.

He said further that the Emohua commander identified as Alhaji Chima Ali mobilised other members of the group from Ogbama from where they rode on six motorbikes to Isiodu and engaged the unknown gunmen.

According to him, police operatives stationed at the checkpoint ran away following the gunfire between his group and the unknown gunmen.

He said further that his group has also taken over the security of the area to forestall further attacks.

Recall that the Rivers State Government, on Thursday imposed a dusk to dawn curfew in the 23 local government areas of the state following threats of imminent attacks by gunmen in the state.

Governor Nyesom Wike in a statewide broadcast said the curfew will run from 10 pm to 6 am till further notice.
