Police arraign Soldier for allegedly raping AAUA undergraduate

Police in Ondo, on Wednesday, summoned one Mr Sunday Awolola, a soldier who allegedly raped a student of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, before a magistrates’ court sitting in Akure.

The soldier who is attached to the 32 Artillery Brigade of Nigerian Army, was alleged to have raped the student at a military checkpoint along Ikare Akoko-Akungba Akoko road on July 31, 2019.

The accused defence counsel, Mr Kayode Idowu, however, asked the court to adjourn the case to enable him to accurately study the applications brought before the court by the prosecutor.

The presiding magistrate, Mr Mayowa Olanipekun, adjourned the suit till Friday, August 16, 2019, to enable the defence counsel study the applications.
