The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has intensified efforts to strengthen collaboration with telecommunications operators and infrastructure providers to improve service delivery and expand network connectivity across the country.
This followed a separate Familiarisation visit by the Commission and the Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) to Airtel Nigeria and IHS Towers in Lagos on October 21, 2026.
The NCC delegation was headed by its Executive Commissioner for Stakeholder Management, Ms. Rimini Makama, alongside ALTON President, Engr. Gbenga Adebayo.
The visitors were welcomed by the Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Nigeria, Mr. Dinesh Balsingh, who engaged the delegation on ways the regulator can partner the telecoms operator to drive the industry to greater heights.
Following the meet, the NCC team also visited IHS Towers where they held discussions with the company’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kazeem Oladepo.
The NCC’s outreach is aligned with its resolve to foster collaboration and partnership between the regulator, the telecoms operators and infrastructure providers, as well as to drive the telecommunications sector agenda in the country.
The visits come as Nigeria ramps up efforts to boost digital connectivity, not only to drive the economy but also to empower every citizen that relies on the telecoms network to be more productive.
The telecoms operators, Airtel Nigeria and IHS Towers, play a critical role in expanding broadband penetration and network coverage in the country.
According to the report, the NCC’s outreach effort is in its quest to remain relevant, as it strengthens its relationship with stakeholders and empowers them to drive the telecoms sector agenda.
The initiative also underscores the importance of cooperation across the telecommunications value chain as the country works towards a more connected digital economy.
