The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division Nigerian Army and Land Component Commander, Joint Task Force (South-South) Operation Delta Safe, Major General Emmanuel Emekah, has reiterated the commitment of the Nigerian Army to help with healthcare interventions and humanitarian efforts in order to enhance the health status of Nigerians.
Emekah gave the commitment while addressing participants at the closing ceremony of 2026 World Blood Donor Day celebration by the Armed Forces Blood Centre (AFBC) held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Friday.
Speaking through his deputy director chaplaincy (RC), headquarters 6 Division Nigerian Army, Colonel A.J. Sambo, the GOC stated that the Army is committed to supporting healthcare interventions through its medical facilities and special institutions.

The GOC described World Blood Donor Day as an occasion where people were enlightened on the importance of having safe blood and blood products, while appreciating the effort of volunteer blood donors.
It was further stated by Emekah that blood donation is one of the most noble humanitarian deeds, which can save the life of many people as each unit of blood can save many lives.
In his speech, Emekah lauded the management and workers of the Armed Forces Blood Centre for the effort they have made in making sure that there is safe blood available and campaigns to promote voluntary blood donation throughout the country.
Emekah said that the Nigerian Army will be supporting all activities to improve the health sector, especially programs that help save lives through the provision of safe blood.
There were closing remarks calling for voluntary blood donation and the construction of a sustainable blood banking system in Nigeria. Certificates and souvenirs were awarded to the guests and voluntary blood donors present at the program.
