The Chairman of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, Hon. Aboiya-a Bob-Fubara, has assured residents of Obonoma Kingdom of equitable development across communities in the council, promising to tackle their needs within available resources.
Bob-Fubara gave the assurance when the leadership of Obonoma Kingdom, led by the Amanyanabo, His Royal Highness Enenimibo-Ofori Dateme-Obonogina, paid him a courtesy visit at the council secretariat in Abonnema on Monday, June 15 2026.
The council chairman told the delegation that all concerns and developmental requests raised during the visit would receive prompt attention from his administration.
He pointed to the ongoing construction of a new National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Members’ Lodge in Obonoma, one of the projects recently flagged off by the council, as clear proof of his commitment to the community’s growth.
“Other requests from the kingdom will be prioritised and incorporated into future budgets of the local government,” Bob-Fubara said.
He added that his administration would continue to address the developmental needs of Obonoma and other communities in a gradual but focused manner.
The chairman further pledged to maintain an open-door policy, urging residents to bring forward their issues. His goal, he said, is to leave a lasting legacy of impactful leadership and sustainable development in the area.
Earlier, the Amanyanabo of Obonoma Kingdom commended Bob-Fubara for his inclusive leadership, accessibility, and dedication to grassroots development.
The monarch said he personally led the delegation because of the chairman’s responsiveness to the people’s needs and expressed confidence in the administration’s ability to deliver across Akuku-Toru.
The royal father later asked the Chairman of the Obonoma Community Development Committee (CDC), Graham Samuel, to present the kingdom’s five-point demands to the council chairman.
Presenting the requests, Samuel praised the administration for appointing several indigenes of Obonoma into key positions and lauded Bob-Fubara’s genuine commitment to the kingdom and the local government area. He reaffirmed the community’s readiness to partner with the council to advance development.
Those at the meeting included the Secretary to the Council, Awowari Amakiri; former Secretary to the Council, Tobins Tobins; the Whip of the Akuku-Toru Legislative Assembly, Chidima Ekere; political appointees, traditional rulers, youth leaders, elders, women leaders, and other stakeholders from the kingdom.
